Completed Belmont Road Junction Improvements

The improvements at the junction of Belmont Road and St Denys Road (A3035) were completed in June 2022. Below you can read about the progress made on the project:

June 2023 Update

The final stretch of work is soon to be completed, and a phase of night closures will now be taking place to resurface the junction and complete the new road markings.

This work is planned to take place overnight from Monday 5th June 2023 for 2 nights. The closure will be in place between 8:00pm to 6:00am, and within these hours there will be a full closure of St Denys Road from Thomas Lewis Way to Portswood Road. Please see the map below for the closure extent:

Belmont Road will remain open to residents only during this time, with no access from Belmont Road onto St Denys Road from both north and south.

This work is taking place at night in order to reduce disruption to the busy area, and a diversion route will be in place for traffic, with pedestrian access maintained on St Denys Road.

April 2023 Update

This work will begin Monday 3rd April 2023 and will take approximately 10 weeks.

Traffic management whilst we undertake the works:

There will be lane restrictions in place whilst the work is completed, and St Denys Road between Thomas Lewis Way and Portswood Road will become one-way, travelling westbound into Portswood only.

There will be separate signed diversions for pedestrians, cyclists, and traffic whilst this restriction is in place, as well as temporary push-button crossings for pedestrians. The restrictions will be in place for the entire extent of the works, and access to Belmont Road will be for residents only and will not be possible from St Denys Road.

We are not expecting the works area to encroach upon any driveway access on Belmont Road, however if there are any issues with gaining access whilst the works are being conducted, please speak to the team on site and they will do their best to accommodate you. The dates in this letter are subject to change, however we will always endeavour to meet the proposed schedule.

Following the completion of this phase of works in Summer 2023, there will be a final phase of night works to complete the new surface. We will write to residents nearer to the time to inform them of any restrictions, and this page will be updated accordingly.
