  • We received 238 responses to the survey. 71% of those were from Bassett residents.
  • There was a high level of agreement with most aspects of the proposals, with resurfacing being the most supported, and the widened cycle lanes being the least.
  • 61% of people thought the changes would make walking, wheeling and cycling easier around Winchester Road.
  • The most common concern (raised by 45 people) was that the increased number of traffic lights would delay motor vehicles or create too much stop-start traffic. 37 were against the widening of the cycle lanes for various reasons, and 14 raised concerns about congestion at the Vermont Close junction.
  • We also heard from ward councillors, Great Oaks School and South-Central Ambulance Service, who gave valuable insight into the scheme.
