Why is the work taking 12 weeks?
We are undertaking a huge amount of work with multiple crews and machinery on site. We will be working as quickly as we can to complete the work safely while maintaining some access. This is a residential area so our work is limited to day time with some weekend working.
Why does Onslow Road need to be one way?
To allow safe working and access for plant and materials we need to maintain a lane closure along the length of the scheme. It is not possible to maintain two-way traffic even under temporary traffic lights over this length of the scheme without causing significant disruption. The least impactful solution is for Onslow Road to be one way. Unfortunately, the full length of Onslow Road needs to be one way is to avoid HGVs entering the road with no way to turn around. We have to ensure this cannot happen and signage would not prevent this from occurring.

The one-way system will affect outbound cyclists, as the shared footway will be closed in sections. We will provide some alternative unsigned cycle route suggestions here shortly.

Bus stops
All outbound bus stops will be suspended while the one-way southbound restriction is in place. Please speak to your bus service provider about the best alternative stops to use during the works.
