What is a Travel Hub?

A travel hub provides access to a range of alternative sustainable transport options in strategically selected locations to aid people in travelling as seamlessly and sustainably as possible around the city.

How is this project being funded?

The Travel Hub is funded by the Department for Transport's Transforming Cities Fund.

How was Woolston chosen?

Woolston was selected for its strategic location nearby to one of the crossings of the River Itchen as well as the existing bus interchange and rail station, and was put forward in a consultation with local residents in Autumn 2021.

Why does Southampton need Travel Hubs?

Southampton City Council have been awarded funding from the Department for Transport's Transforming Cities Fund to help improve how people move in and around the city with the goal of improving sustainable and active travel for residents. Travel Hubs are one of the ways to achieve this goal by making sustainable modes of travel more easily accessed and better connected to improve onward journeys.
