Summary

  • What: Digging trial holes to identify services and ground conditions
  • Why: Inform on possible future works on Shirley Road

Definition: Digging trial holes is to locate and record position of services (public utilities) measure and record layers of the road or footway construction to inform future maintenance and repair.

Project Details

Phase 1: Dyer Road 3 days – digging a trial hole on the carriageway. At the same time, we will be carrying out gully repairs. This will require the closure of Dyer Road for this phase of works. Vehicle access to Dyer Road will be maintained throughout.

Phase 2: Cawte Road 4 days – digging a trial hole on the carriageway. At the same time, we will be carrying out gully repairs. This will require the closure of Cawte Road and a lane restriction on Shirley Road for this phase of works. Vehicle access to Cawte Road will be maintained throughout.

Phase 3: Stafford Road (north) 2 days– digging a trial hole on the west side of the road. Work will require a lane restriction and be managed with ‘give and take.’ Vehicle access to Stafford Road (north) will be maintained throughout.
