This map shows the areas of work that will be completed in this scheme; they are numbered in chronological order. Please refer to the drop downs below to see the details of each area.

There are several areas where we will be widening the northside footway to create a segregated footway/cycleway:

1a. Between the opposite of the end of Butt's Road and Warburton Road

From 25 February for 7 weeks

1b. Between White's Road and Bath Road & between Bath Road and Upper Deacon Road

From late Summer for 3 weeks

1c. Between Hinkler Road and Gavan Street

From early Autumn for 4 weeks

1d. Between Upper Deacon Road and North East Road

From mid Autumn for 6 weeks

1e. Between North East Road and Hinkler Road​

From mid Autumn for 4 weeks

1f. Between Gavan Street and opposite Butt's Road

From mid Autumn for 4 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• Widening of existing crossings
• A new Toucan crossing at Coates Road
• A new contraflow cycle lane on Coates Road and narrowing Coates Road to one lane
• New right turn into petrol station

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• Widening of existing crossings
• Removal of gating system (will allow exit from Orpen Road onto Bursledon Road at all times)
• Removal of on-road cycle lane
• Extension of left turning lane
• Footway widening

The work will include the creation of a continuous segregated footway/cycleway across the entrance, which will give right of way to pedestrians and cyclists over turning traffic.

Being kept closed while Hinkler Road is running on temporary signals.

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• 2 new Toucan crossings
• Footway widening to create a shared use footway/cycleway
• Removal of bus lane to create straight ahead/left hand turn lane into Kathleen Road

From late June for 2 weeks

The work will include the removal of the right turn into Chatsworth Road, as it contravenes DfT safety guidelines by crossing a dual carriageway without control of traffic signals.

From mid Summer for 4 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• 2 new Toucan crossings

From mid Summer for 12 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• New Toucan crossing
• Removal of on-road cycle lane
• Relocation of bus stop
• Conversion of verge into a segregated footway/cycleway

From mid Summer for 6 weeks. Road currently open under temporary signals while the main signals are replaced. This requires Kathleen Road to be closed until the main signals are back on from 20 September for six weeks.

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• 3 new Toucan crossings
• New footway for pedestrians parallel to Carey Road (removal of existing footway)
• New raised surface cycleway on Carey Road
• Creation of additional eastbound lane to turn right into Kathleen Road

From mid Summer for 16 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• New Toucan crossing
• Priority footway/cycleway across car park access
• New dedicated left turn into retail park
• Moving the 40mph limit 90m east

From late Summer for 12 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction crossing
• New dedicated right turn lane into White’s Road

From mid Autumn for 12 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• New Toucan crossings
• New separate cycle crossing

From late Autumn for 9 weeks

The work will include:

• New junction signals
• 3 new Toucan crossings
• Junction widening of A3024 inbound
• Removal of no right turn out of Bath Road

From late Autumn for 6 weeks

This work will include:

• New junction signals
• 3 new Toucan crossings
• Remove bus lay by and shelter, and install new bus stop
