Due to the our works being mainly reactive, we sometimes do not have time to alert residents with bespoke letters as we always make effort to do. We also have a team of Highways Inspectors who review and inspect every road in the city, and they often make visits based on the reports we receive from the public; this means we do not always have time to alert residents to the visit as they might be responding urgently to an incident.
We instead alert residents and businesses with reactive card notices, which detail more generic information as well as contact details for those who wish to learn more about the work taking place. We would like to apologise that we have been unable to provide a more detailed account of the upcoming work, however we hope that the finished repair is worth the temporary disruption.
I've received a card telling me not to park here - why is this?
Our team might need to inspect a gully or kerb which is covered by parked vehicles. Every day, our team visit defects and issues reported by members of the public, only to find the issue covered by a vehicle. This means they must revisit or knock on nearby doors to try and find the owner, which takes up valuable time that could be used addressing the reported issue. We would kindly ask that residents do not park where they see cones and treat our team with consideration, as they are here to help.
I've received a notice that says 'road or footway repairs' - which is it?
Unfortunately, our reactive notice cards are generic in nature, and we cannot be specific regarding the work taking place. If you would like more information around the work, please use the contact details on the card or seen below to find out what our team might be doing.

I've received a notice card but I haven't seen any roadworkers - where are they?
Sometimes our team are unable to attend the defects on the day that we plan, as their job is reactive and they may be needed more urgently elsewhere. We always try and keep to the promised schedule as we know that residents might plan their day around repairs. Sometimes, however, the team are able to complete the work quickly or the inspector might attend during the daytime when most people are out, and so they may not be seen completing the work.
