Revenue and capital funding will be used to progress the projects in the Delivery Plan 2025/26, including funding new services, frequency enhancements and new or upgraded infrastructure, such as bus priority in the city centre, along Shirley Road and Portswood Road, and real time passenger information. More details are included here.

Capability funding will be used for staffing, project management and monitoring costs.

BSOG will be used to support bus services in Lordshill and Shirley (BS22), Bitterne (the Bitterne Hoppas) and upgrades to Real Time Information displays.

The grant was used to upgrade bus stop facilities on supported services routes including Bitterne (Bitterne Hoppas), Lordswood and Hill Lane (X11). Unspent funding was carried to 2024-25 financial year and used to support supported services in Lordshill and Bitterne.

This funding supported delivery of Bus Service Improvement Plan ambitions, including the continuation of the £1 evening bus fare and group travel offer (5 for £5) and provided new or enhanced evening and weekend services to Sholing (BS10), Harefield (BS13) and Lordshill (BS19). The funding was also used to promote bus services and kickstart two new bus services in Shirley (BS21 and BS22) and along Hill Lane (BS19a) to better connect residents to local schools, leisure and recreation facilities and shops.

£14,583.30 of grant was used to support Xela Bus services X12 and the Bitterne Hoppas. The remaining £60,528.70 was carried forward to 2022-23 financial year to be used for the same purpose.
