Burgess Road Grip Fibre

Burgess Road Image

Works are being planned for life-extending surface treatment on Burgess Road. To undertake this work safely, we will need to do these works in two phases.

Phase 1: Structural patching – will be carried out overnight starting on Tuesday, 1 June 2021 for four nights between approx. 8pm and 6am. This phase is to patch or resurface the worst sections of Burgess Road from Hill Lane to Bassett Avenue, including the junction with Butterfield Road.  In addition, a small section of Hill Lane southbound from Winchester Road to the junction of Burgess Road (see map overleaf).

Phase 2: Surface Treatment – will be carried out off-peak on Tuesday, 15 June 2021 for two days between approx. 9:30am and 3:30pm. During this phase we will apply a surface treatment to Burgess Road between Hill Lane and Bassett Avenue. This is a quick process, but the material needs time to cure and set before traffic can drive over it.

Once the above works have been completed, it will be necessary for us to return to adjust the manhole covers and drain heights. This will be undertaken with localised traffic management, usually within a week of completing the surface treatment. If a short road closure is required, we will give notice via advanced warning signs. It will also be necessary for us to return to install the road markings approximately two weeks after completion of the surface treatment. This will also be undertaken with localised traffic management.
